Transformation 166
90x90, 2026, Acrylic on canvas
TRANSFORMATION 166 is part of my ongoing Transformation series, in which I rework older paintings through a process of covering, scraping, layering, and revealing. Instead of completely erasing the original work, I preserve fragments of its history, allowing the past to become an essential part of the new composition.
This painting is built from a predominantly monochromatic palette of charcoal, black, warm brown, and soft ivory, punctuated by subtle flashes of green, turquoise, and yellow. Dense textures and distressed surfaces create an almost archaeological quality, while intersecting lines and fragmented geometric forms suggest structures emerging from beneath layers of time.
The contrast between dark and light gives the composition a quiet but powerful tension. Hidden colors appear like glimpses of another reality, partially concealed yet refusing to disappear. The work explores memory, change, and renewal—the idea that transformation does not require destroying the past, but rather finding new meaning within it.
