Transformation 170
70x70, 2026, Acrylic on canvas
TRANSFORMATION 170 is part of my ongoing Transformation series, where I revisit older paintings and give them a new visual life through layering, scraping, covering, and reworking the original surface. Instead of erasing what came before, I allow traces of the previous painting to remain, creating a tension between memory, destruction, and renewal.
This work is particularly dynamic, built around an intense dialogue between electric blue, deep red, silver, white, and violet. The heavily textured surface almost seems to fracture and reform itself, while broad diagonal marks move across the composition and create a sense of movement and depth. Beneath the dense layers, fragments of earlier imagery remain partially visible, like memories emerging through a new reality.
The luminous silver and white passages become focal points within the composition, contrasting with the saturated reds and blues surrounding them. The result is an abstract landscape of constantly shifting forms—energetic, complex, and deliberately open to interpretation.
For me, TRANSFORMATION 170 represents the idea that nothing truly disappears; it changes form. The old painting becomes the foundation for something unexpected, proving that transformation can preserve the past while creating an entirely new visual identity.
